This Municipality in the Eastern Cape has a Water Service Authority responsible for the provision of water and sanitation services. SRK was appointed to assist with emergency drought intervention programmes in 2016 and 2019. This included the drilling and testing of boreholes for rural water supply. In 2016, 36 villages formed part of the programme. Forty two boreholes were constructed for abstraction purposes at a combined yield of up to 53.55 L/s (4,626 m3/day). Thirteen villages formed part of the 2019 programme and 10 production boreholes were established to deliver a combined yield of 12 L/s (1,036 m3/day).
