Terry Braun, SRK Practice Leader, Denver, accepted the award at the 35th annual awards ceremony and banquet hosted by the Mining Foundation of the Southwest (MFSW) on December 2, 2017. The event was attended by 450 people, including executives from many of the world’s top mining companies. In his acceptance speech, Terry stated that we are passionate about the mining industry and support MFSW’s efforts to educate the public about mineral extraction and processing.
“Our Tucson office is dedicated to giving back to our industry and communities,” said Cori Hoag, Practice Leader, SRK Tucson. “We participate in several local professional associations and sponsor MFSW’s outreach educator who is teaching 10,000 students annually about the importance of mineral resources and mining.”
When thanking the MFSW for our award, Terry attested to the value of acknowledging noteworthy deeds. “In recognizing past and present accomplishments, we do more than honor our industry,” he said. “We learn. We set the stage for the future.” These beliefs prompted SRK’s 2015 publication of a book celebrating its 40th anniversary as an international mining consultancy. “In writing this story, we rediscovered and reconfirmed our company culture and purpose,” said Terry. “And set the stage for the next generation to write the next chapter. Much like the good work of the MFSW.”
